On why the model is not the director.
The model will give you a beautiful shot of nothing in particular, and it will do it a hundred times before lunch. What it will not give you is a reason for the next cut. That is the honest shape of the new tools, and it is why the studios that produce real work with them spend most of their attention on the same old scarce things: a script with an argument, a shot list that serves it, and a point of view about the fourth second.
Texture. Atmosphere. The unaffordable shot — weather, scale, places that would cost a crew and a permit and a season. Generation reaches shots that a small production simply cannot shoot, and it reaches them in hours. For a small brand, that genuinely changes what can be said about itself, and we would not be running a film pipeline if it did not.
It is also bad at the least glamorous parts: the same face twice, a hand holding a real object, words that stay legible. Those weaknesses are not going to be argued away by enthusiasm. They are planned around — locked character references, shorter segments, text handled by a designer instead of a prompt — and the plan is part of the craft now.
The cut that works is decided by somebody who knows why it works. A model can produce a competent frame; it cannot tell you that the scene needs to end two seconds earlier because the audience has already understood the idea, or that the line lands better spoken softly than shouted. Direction — the accumulation of many small judgements about attention — is exactly the thing the tools do not contain. The evidence is boring and repeatable: the same footage, cut twice, lands differently, and the audience can feel it even when they cannot explain it.
So our rule is simple. Generation is the crew, not the director. It takes the direction we can defend — a script, a shot list, a reason for every second — and it renders it. When the work is judged at the screening, nobody asks which tool held the camera. They ask whether the film said the thing. The spine has to be a person's.
